Malshej Ghat holds special value for hikers, trekkers and adventure lovers. The nature here is at its best. No wonder then that the most exotic migratory flamingoes choose it as their monsoon abode. Birthplace of the legendary Shivaji. The unusual hill has Buddhist Caves dating to the 3rd century and is surmounted by an important historic fort.

Gorakhgad is one of the numerous forts situated in Thane district. It is located in Murbad region, on the extended range of Bhimashankar Mountains. Gorakhgad and Macchindragad are joined by a common ridge from which Gorakhgad is possible to climb Route to Macchindragad is so much broken that it is now unapproachable fort. While reaching up to Gorakhgad caves where we find water has a rock patch.

The Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary is positioned at an altitude of 2100 feet to 3800 feet, and is spread over the districts of Pune, Raigad and Thane districts of the north-western part of Maharashtra. There is a shrine in the forest of the wildlife sanctuary, which has the Jyotiralinga temple of Lord Shiva. The valley found beyond this temple is a wonderful combination of shrubs, magical herbs and plant life. The wide variety of animal species which are found in the Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary in Maharashtra consists of barking deer, leopards, wild boar, sambar, hyena and langur.

Siddhagad is situated near Kalyan and is surrounded by Gorakhgad and Machchindragad. It consists of two parts, Siddhagad machi and balekilla. It is quite easy to get to Siddhagad machi but climbing the summit (balekilla) takes some caution while climbing rock patches and traversing exposed areas. It attracts people for its stunning views and exciting climb.
